Dodge Poetry Festival: 5 tips on writing from former poet laureate Billy Collins

NEWARK — Billy Collins has climbed to the top the U.S. poetry scene, serving as the U.S. poet laureate from 2001 until 2003. Over the course of his career he has won numerous awards from being named Poet of the year from Poetry magazine to winning the Mark Twain award for humor in poetry. At the Dodge Poetry festival he talked about the craft of writing poetry. Here are five takeaways from his talk.
