The British School of Chicago’s new South Loop campus is rapidly approaching completion. For the most part, the exterior work is done and construction is currently focused on the interior spaces. Inspectors are already going over the work done to make sure everything’s ship shape.
Inside there’s a library; a dance and drama studio; a fitness studio; a cafeteria and kitchen; a music classroom; and lots more specific areas.
The Chicago Architecture Blog’s Daniel Schell got the bird’s eye low down on the school’s new rooftop public park that’s connected to the Roosevelt Collection. You can see, it’s quite the manicured masterpiece. But there’s no word if it will open to the public before the school opens to students this coming September.
The turf field next to is it technically going to also be a public space, but at the same time the neighbors will have to defer to the school when it’s time for sports.
To see a time-lapse video of the building’s construction made by W.E. O’Neil Construction, check out the video box at the top of this page.
