U.S. Bank Stadium under construction in Minneapolis

If you’re not into football, or hotdish, you might not know that the Minnesota Vikings are building a new stadium in Minneapolis. Gold Coast Spy Darcie happened to be up there recently, and sent in these pictures of the construction progress.

Branded the U.S. Bank Stadium (Take that, U.S. Cellular Field!), the stadium is currently at the point where the last of the roof supports are going in.  And unlike its predecessor the Metrodome, which famously imploded under the weight of 17 inches of snow in 2010, this stadium includes a massive snow deflector.

When complete in time for the 2015/16 season kick-off, the HKS-designed stadium will have a capacity of 73,000 and a price tag just over a billion dollars.
