The new, wonderfully-curved residential tower at Lake Street and North Halsted is taking shape in West Town. We zipped over to have a look, and it’s already risen 5 stories above the street. When the Booth Hansen design is complete, it will have (depending on which document filed with the city turns out to be final) 28-30 stories, with 214-227 residences.

Another thing it will have is the ability to completely obstruct our view of the cool video-game wall at the rear of the new Lake Street Studios at 727 West Lake. Yeah, we’re aware a view in Chicago is never permanent, but it was fun seeing those green stripes as we rode by on the Green Line.

Construction has begun at Lake and Halsted on a 29 story mixed-use apartment tower. The project developed at 171 N. Halsted by Shapack Partners, Focus Development, and Atlantic Realty Partners broke ground on February 20 with sights set on a summer 2016 delivery.
The tower has been designed with sweeping curved façade to afford outstanding views for all units. Seamless glass curved walls provide a dynamic form that distinguishes it from the recent towers in this West Loop neighborhood. Just steps from the Randolph Street restaurant row, the tower includes 8,700 square feet of ground floor retail, 227 luxury residential units, and 3 floors of parking with 159 spaces. The tower is targeting LEED Silver certification and includes the following amenities: outdoor deck and pool, dog run, lounge and party room, fitness and yoga room, and 29thfloor indoor/outdoor terrace with unobstructed views of the Loop. The development also includes a large green roof on top of the parking podium along with the other outdoor amenities.
